Is it really all in My Head?
Pain Science & Yoga for People Living with Chronic Pain
    with Stephanie Tittle
    Saturday, January 25,  1:00-3:00 pm

    What:
Dive into the fascinating world of our pain system!  Pain is a great teacher that makes you change, or stop, a behavior; protecting you from perceived danger to the body.  Persistent pain teaches the brain to become overly protective, which creates more pain that rarely stems from our “tissue issues.”

    Knowledge is transformative and powerful.

    Learn:
~ The basics of pain science and how the brain responds to danger.
~ How our experience of pain is affected by many unique aspects in our lives.
~ Pain care techniques to begin to look for and unravel pain patterns.
~ That we can influence our pain, our nervous system and the brain (we’re bioplastic baby!).

This workshop consists of discussion and breath practice. Sitting on the floor is optional, chair

My Story; In 2008 I had a common lumbar injury/re-injury and spent the last 10 years with chronic back pain, while actively seeking answers for my seemingly “normal” x rays and scans. The current revolution that is happening within the pain science community, is targeting our beliefs and language surrounding pain and how we experience pain. This knowledge, along with specic yogic applications, has improved my daily life and is worth the altered efforts it takes to change our brain/body patterns; lessening our pain and suffering. I am a Hatha Yoga Instructor, SUP Yoga Instructor, studying Yoga Therapy and Pain Science for people livng with chronic pain.

Somatics for Neck and Shoulders Workshop
with Lisa Godenick, Level III Clinical Somatic Educator Sunday, January 26,
    1:00 -3:00 pm

Join Lisa Godenick, Level III Clinical Somatic Educator, to release your tight neck and shoulders. Eliminating muscle pain, stiness, and the feeling of "getting old" starts with the brain. Stress, trauma, and repetitive motions or injuries change how the brain senses and moves us. Over time, we start to feel tense and tight. Through gentle somatic movements and sensory awareness, you can retrain how your brain senses and moves you, for relaxed shoulders and a pain-free neck. You will go home with simple movements you can do every day to keep yourself pain-free and change the way you respond to stress.

Lisa found Somatics looking for a solution to her back pain. Almost immediately she found pain relief through Somatics, and a greater ability to sense and control her muscles, plus increased awareness. Her daily Somatics movement practice keeps her in balance, and engaged in all of her hobbies, like running, practicing yoga, and climbing, safely and efficiently.

For People Living with Chronic Pain
    with Stephanie Tittle
Saturdays 11:00 am -12:15 am; Live Stream via Zoom
    July 25 - August 29

Join this 6 week pain science, breath and movement series to understand and decrease persistent pain.

Explore the brains danger system; how our thoughts, emotions and expectations influence our pain beyond the tissue issues.
With each class we'll introduce breath, body awareness techniques and movement, as tools to influence your pain experience.

Weekly progression, with a home practice, will support your ability to strengthen the skills needed to desensitize the nervous system and body over time.

$120 (six classes)   Live Streamed via Zoom

    GREAT 108
    Sun Salutations
with Jen Donovan, E-RYT, RCYT, RPYT

    Autumn Equinox Monday, Septmber 14
    5:30-7:00 p.m.

Celebrate the Solstice by challenging yourself to complete a Mala - 108 Sun Salutations.  108 is a very auspicious number in the yogic tradition.  The sun salutation is one of the most effective ways to learn about the vinyasa, binding the breath to the movement.   “The notion of a salutation to the sun is to pay your respects and surrender to the universe.  This can be taken as a metaphor to let go physically – the mind follows as you move ‘inside’ the practice.”

There will be a special crystal singing bowl savasana (relaxation) at the end.

$18 drop in (or use your regular pre-paid class series package)

"In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer." - Albert Camus

The winter solstice marks the beginning of winter and is the shortest day and the longest night of the year in the northern hemisphere. It celebrates the new Solar year and the return of the sun as every day now we will see more daylight. For time immemorial humans have taken refuge in the darkest, longest night. The time between this longest night and the New Year has traditionally been used to both quiet down and reflect as well as re-vision the awareness of one's self. Because ancient cultures were unaware of the changes in the Earth's position, they feared that the sunlight would never return. To bring it back, they engaged in many celebrations and ceremonies. In fact, there are more ceremonies and "rituals associated with the winter solstice than any other time of year."

This evening will include inspired readings with Taylor Donovan and several crystal bowl performance by Jennifer Shull Donovan.
