energybody photo

with Kim Allcock and Katie Louvat
Saturday and Sunday, February 18 & 19, 2012

In life as well as in our asana practice, transformation and growth take place
when we move beyond the safety of our comfort zones to test, explore and play with our mental, physical, and emotional edges. In our Asana practice, the yoga sutras remind us to create balance between intensity and relaxation in every posture, and to observe the reactions of body and breath in order to fine-tune our actions. We will use these two principles to 'play the edges' of our practice, giving all our attention at the task at hand and moving towards challenging asanas with single-minded focus.

MINDFULNESS YOGA WORKSHOP

lotus present moment

with Denise Barclay
Saturday, May 26; 12:30-6:30 p.m.

Developing the practice of mindfulness can be helpful to maintaining balance between the physical body, mental body and emotional body.  Most of us feel more comfortable in one or two of these areas while avoiding the other or at best minimizing it. Through the filter of mindfulness students will explore all three bodies and through acknowledgement and acceptance of our comforts and discomforts, will work with them to uncover what has always been there, equanimity and balance.

“If we can’t live outside our minds conditioning,
we are destined to live out that conditioning. -Adyeshanti

This workshop will include:

Lecture – Talk about equanimity, tools on cultivating it and the benefits of having it in your life.

Asana Practice – A mindfulness flow practice and a restorative practice.

Pranayama Technique – to assist the energy to flow more efficiently within the body and as a preparation for meditation.

Meditation Technique – Alternating sitting and walking meditations to bring awareness to the 60,000-90,000 thoughts we have on average each day and to let go of identifying with them.  This helps to create a space between thoughts to experience equanimity

Heart Of Darkness

with Jen McClellan & Taylor Donovan

Sunday, Dec. 16; 4:00-5:00p.m.

For time immemorial humans have taken refuge in the darkest, longest night. The time between this longest night and the New Year has traditionally been used to both quiet down and reflect as well as re-vision the awareness of one's self. This evenin will include a guided meditation with Taylor Donovan, crystal bowl toning by Jennifer McClellan, and readings from several traditions celebrating this special time of year. Come away with a sense of resolve and empowerment to manifest the best “you” ever seen.

Cost: $15 at the door
