HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR CLASSES?
mellow, heart-full, inspirational
HAPPINESS IS.... healthfulness in any and all forms ~ physical, spiritual, and emotional
ANY GREAT YOGA MOMENTS TO SHARE...
(on or off the mat)
I attended a class at Wanderlust last year that was a powerful turning point and taught me a lot about the work of intentions. During a yoga nidra class with Rod Stryker, I turned inward to my heart's desire and the word "freedom" came up. I've been exploring and applying all the many meanings of the word ever since. It's been transforming and life changing.
YOUR HERO(s)...
those who identify their passion and act on it!
TEACHERS (don't have to be yoga teachers) WHO INSPIRE YOU
My children, my husband, other powerful women following their paths, Kathryn Budig, Shaelah Morris, Tiffany Cruishank, Kim Orenstein (of course!)

Green juice or clementines when they're in season
FAVORITE POSE
I'm really loving handstands right now but a supported Sukhasana (easy pose) always feels great!

Reading, hiking, adventure walks, crystals, jewelry making, henna, being with my children outdoors
MANTRA, HAI KU? WORDS OF WISDOM?
"Love in such a way that the one you love feels free."

HOMETOWN
Born in Saltillo Mexico as my Dad was obtaining a Spanish degree at Univ.
of Coahuila. Grew up in San Diego, CA, lived in Northern CA before moving
to Reno. All of these places could be called my hometowns.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START A YOGA PRACTICE? Three years ago my beautiful mother and a dear friend encouraged me to do yoga after having been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis and hospitalized for over two months (one month in ICU) due to a severe and rare allergic reaction to a medication. After two months of recovery at home, I took my first class at Yoga Loka.
WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO CONTINUE YOUR PRACTICE
The LOVE and appreciation of yoga, everything I've learned at Yoga Loka<
from the most PRECIOUS and ENDEARING instructors, the sincere and genuine
friends I look forward to practicing with in class, the health benefits,
the fresh and very comfortable perspective of life that transpires through
yoga.
ANY GREAT YOGA MOMENTS TO SHARE (on or off the mat?)
On the mat....the realization that our bodies are truly amazing and that
they do heal and can overcome many obstacles. I never thought I could
become so strong both mentally and physically on and off a yoga mat.
Off the mat....being blessed with a new nickname of "awesome yogi mom"
from my family. Kim's Amazing Virginia City Retreats and Denise Barclay's
Lovely Lake Tahoe Retreat.
